In War Within Concentration and Ingenuity are two systems that have a huge impact on crafting, and they are not that well explained in the game.

While Concentration and Ingenuity are not new, they did get added late in Dragonflight so they’ve mostly been missed by many players. Now, with War Within these two new systems are coming into full focus and questions are being asked. We covered way back in Dragonflight, and updated in War Within, the full list of crafting stats, but these two are a new breed for sure.

So, what are they, how do you get more, and should you care?

War Within Concentration

Concentration is one of the main features, in simple terms what it does is give you a little boost to your skill to get an item up a level of crafting. Everyone starts with 1000, and it slowly recharges over time to get you back to your max. Sadly, however, it is not a fast process:

  • Starts at 1000 and slowly ticks up every by 1 every 6 minutes
  • Would take 100 hours to go from 0 to 1000
  • You have independent concentration for each crafting profession. So if you have Tailoring and Blacksmithing you’d have 1000 for each
  • Concentration guarantees that you get to the next level. So be careful because it can mean you use 100s of concentration in one go. For us, going from a minimal 2 star to a guaranteed 3 star cost us over 450

War Within Ingenuity

Ingenuity is the other system that is slightly clearer but also more RNG? It’s weird, but it does sort of make sense. For Ingenuity, you are seeing the % chance that a craft will give you concentration back. You’ll only get 50% back, but every little helps when it takes so long to recharge.

  • Shows your chance of getting an “ingenious breakthrough”
  • Will give back 50% of the concentration you spent on that craft
  • This can be improved in the specialisation menus of each crafter going up to the full 100%

What these things really do is help you improve your crafting rating. In Dragonflight we had to rely on Inspiration procs, which added more RNG and meant you had to make “Pointless” crafts in the hope you could trigger the buff.

What this also means is, that once you have fully leveled your crafting profession, max level, max specialization and using all highest ranked resources. Once you do that, you don’t need to interact with this system any longer. So, it’s best used early or for when you want to craft something big and getting a higher level is really useful.

War Within Concentration and Ingenuity Quick Tips

  • Recharges with time, so try to not “overcap”
  • Unique concentration levels for each crafting profession
  • Can be made redundant by fully maxing your profession
  • Especially useful when doing Crafting Orders, especially the NPC Patron ones as they often require at least rank 3 to fulfil the craft
